Australia’s infamous One Nation party’s dealings with the NRA have made headline news all over the world.
Representatives of the infamous anti-Muslim party were filmed at a series of meetings with the powerful gun lobbyists in an attempt to weaken Australia’s gun control laws. They offered to sell Australia’s gun laws to the highest bidder in private. This revelation seems tocontradict the party’s oft-repeated claims that they are patriots with only the best interests of “real Australians” in mind.
Crime and Scapegoats
An undercover journalist from Al Jazeera who sat in on the meetings for three years broke the story. Staying true to their reputation for integrity and personal responsibility, One Nation accused Al Jazeera of being anIslamic propaganda outlet. “Al Jazeera are a state-owned propaganda arm of the Qatari government that supports Islamic extremist groups and are not a legitimate media organization,” One Nation leader, Pauline Hanson claimed. Even though Qatari owns Al Jazeera, they are not funded by government subsidies, relying on loans and grants instead, which means they are editorial independent of the state.
